Launching & Recovering Canoes

• Stay focused; no extra talking
• Person on the stern is doing the steering
• Work together
• Careful of your back on the lift
  • No rushing
  • Watch footing especially at low tide
  • Hold on to the canoe
• Person on the stern steers on an angle at the bottom of the driveway so the canoe doesn’t bottom out. This is on the way down and on the way up.
• When the canoe is alongside the dock, hold the `Iakos off from resting on the dock
  • Because of strong currents, always hang on to the dock all the way out to the end
